Stage and screen star Bryan Murray is to be honoured with the Irish Film & Television Academy's (IFTA) Lifetime Achievement Award in Dublin next month.
The reception at the Shelbourne Hotel on Wednesday 13 December is "in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the world of film and television".
Dubliner Murray, who plays Bob Charles in RTÉ's Fair City, has a career that spans over five decades.
It began at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and includes the series Strumpet City, The Irish RM, and Brookside, and the films A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Vita & Virginia.
He has also presented documentaries and starred in productions at the UK's Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In recent years, Bryan Murray has received praise for raising awareness of Alzheimer's disease following his own diagnosis.

Reacting to news of the IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award, he said: "I feel highly emotional, that's amazing. I wish my mother and father were alive to be part of this."
Áine Moriarty, Chief Executive of IFTA, added: "Bryan's commitment to his craft and the richness of his contributions across theatre, television, and film are exceptional.
"He is an integral part of the Irish entertainment industry, and we are immensely proud to recognise his outstanding career with this well-deserved honour."
Previous recipients of the IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award include Judi Dench, Maureen O'Hara, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Jim Sheridan, and Fionnula Flanagan.
