In my experience, i think one should acknowledge this issue first. Then go upto your supervisor and ask for help. Also keep your clients informed about your plans and goals, also make sure your client agrees to your approach.

In healthcare boundaries often times have grayed lines not because they do not exist but often times due to the nature of the urgency for a response. Let’s face it when it’s your grandmother who is battling cancer, you definitely don’t want to find out it was me setting aside what would take me an additional hour for tomorrow. Or the fact that her doctor’s office refused to return a call because it was after 5pm when they finished their last patient. I’ve found setting boundaries for healthcare professionals can be very challenging although it is extremely necessary. My body has told me recently I have to stop and listen to it. Unable to keep any food down I showed up at my local VA with work laptop in hand just in case. My Dr said No!
