Building a culture of continuous learning starts with leading by example. I encourage my team to stay curious, take on challenges, and never stop improving. I make sure they have access to resources, whether it’s training, mentorship, or simply time to learn. In my experience, when people feel supported, they grow in confidence and skills. Growth isn’t just about courses and books, it’s about learning from real experiences. I create an environment where mistakes are lessons, not failures, so my team stays motivated to improve.

One of the ways to cultivate the culture of continuous learning is to focus on developing the Business Acumen capability in them so that they can see the big picture. Building the Enterprise Thinking skill could help the emerging leaders in broadening their perspectives and seeing the whole business as a single unit with interconnected elements. The more the emerging leaders learn about how the business operates, the better understanding they develop about adopting a more inclusive and collaborative approach to succeed as a leader.

Make learning a way of life, not an occasional event. Lead by example—share what you're learning and how it’s helping you grow. Encourage leaders to teach others; the best way to learn is to explain. Foster a culture where curiosity is rewarded, not just performance. Give them real challenges to solve, not just theory. In the Army, training was relentless—every situation was an opportunity to refine skills. Apply the same mindset: continuous learning isn’t extra work; it’s the key to staying sharp, adapting fast, and leading with confidence.
