Leading with strong belief that you and your team can succeed is important to build morale and momentum towards the end goal. Don't forget to celebrate and communicate wins and milestones along the way.

Conquering self-doubt during organizational change starts with acknowledging your feelings and reframing them as a natural part of growth. Focus on your strengths and past successes to remind yourself of your capabilities. Stay transparent with your team—share the vision for change and openly communicate challenges while projecting confidence in the collective ability to overcome them. Empower your team by involving them in decision-making and celebrating their contributions. Lead by example, showing resilience and adaptability, which inspires trust and motivates others to navigate the transition with you.

Help the team understand that whenever there is talk of change the first entity that is going to resist is your very own brain! Be vulnerable and connected and share that because of the above reasons you too as their leader can sometimes go into self doubt so its ok if they are also having similar feelings. Normalising the fear of change and talking about it will remove the shame and stuckness the team might be feeling as a result. The sooner you and your team have this conversation the sooner they will feel unstuck and be able to offer their creativity in navigating this new terrain!

Share your vision, challenges, and progress transparently with the team. Create a space for questions and dialogue, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued.

Open communication is key. You may not be able to disclose everything, but being open and transparent help build repor and trust. It also allows for conversation and feedback.

Building trust with the team is essential to counteracting self-doubt. I would focus on open, honest, and empathetic communication. The more I communicate openly about the reasons behind the change, the progress we’re making, and the challenges we’re facing, the more I can instill confidence in the team. How to do it: Hold regular check-ins with the team to keep everyone informed about progress and next steps. Use transparent, clear communication to explain both the challenges and the opportunities presented by the change. Be vulnerable and share my own doubts, showing the team that it’s okay to feel uncertain, but that we will work through it together.

I believe one of the best ways to inspire confidence in the team is to lead by example. If I stay calm, resilient, and solution-focused, the team is more likely to mirror that attitude. Even if I’m feeling uncertain, I can focus on projecting confidence and being a steadying influence. How to do it: Show optimism and confidence in the process, even if I’m uncertain behind the scenes. People will often look to their leader’s demeanor and attitude. Demonstrate decisiveness in making choices, even when I don’t have all the answers—indecision can feed doubt. Encourage a culture of open communication so the team feels they can approach me with concerns, and I can offer guidance.

We can always remind ourself that everyone is equipped with resilience when it comes to embracing changes. Try to lead the team with an open discussion on how many changes they have been going through when growing up ( e.g. school change, grade change, living location change), and at that time, how these changes made them feel and what did they do to embrace those changes, as well as the challenges those changes brought to them. Then talk about how the organizational changes they are facing made them feel individually, and how that impact their work (eg Process, Culture, etc..). Then, as a team, we can build more specific plan for those areas and make progress and have ongoing dialogue to see if this help the team as expected.

I would take care of myself emotionally and mentally, by staying grounded through mindfulness practices, seeking feedback, and taking regular breaks. I also recognize the importance of having a support network, whether through a mentor, peers, or trusted colleagues. How to do it: Practice self-care techniques, like mindfulness or deep breathing, to help manage stress and stay clear-headed. Surround myself with a support network or mentor who can offer advice and perspective when doubt arises. Take breaks to avoid burnout and to refresh my perspective on the challenges.

Show empathy and offer support to those struggling with change. Provide resources, mentorship, and encouragement to help them succeed.

Change can be a great moment to build trust and team spirit. When things shift, I stay close to my team — not just to guide, but to support them with the tools and clarity they need. I want to embrace and follow the changes the organization is asking for — and help others do the same. One habit that always brings results? Celebrating the wins.They don’t have to be big. Ultimately, leading with empathy, trust, and positivity can inspire confidence in the team, even in uncertain times.
