A nationwide search for kidnapped supermarket executive Don Tidey continues.

The search for Don Tidey is now in its fourth day. It is believed that the Garda investigation may have a new lead and know the identity of some members of the gang responsible for the kidnapping.

They are members of the Provisional IRA.

Chief Superintendent Patrick Culligan, who is leading the investigation for Don Tidey, has denied newspaper reports that there has been contact with the kidnappers or ransom demands made. There has been speculation that the kidnappers are seeking the release of the five men convicted for the incident at Galen Weston's home in Roundwood last August. The billionaire businessman had been the target of an attempted kidnapping by the IRA from his Wicklow estate. Chief Superintendent Patrick Culligan believes that Don Tidey is being held for money and not in exchange for the convicted men's freedom.

Despite these leads, Gardaí still have no idea where Don Tidey is being held and say that the nationwide search will continue.
