With four Irish authors on the longlist, and two making it on to the shortlist, we certainly have skin in the game when it comes to this year's Booker Prize - RTÉ Arena takes a deep dive above.
The 2023 shortlist is made up of two women and four men, three of whom, as it happens, are named Paul.
There is only one British author, one Canadian, two American and of course, two Irish: Paul Murray with The Bee Sting, and Paul Lynch with Prophet Song.
Two of the shortlisted books are debut novels, and none of the six shortlisted authors has won before.
While the stories and styles of these works are diverse, all are concerned in no small way with the complexities of family relationships. The winner will be announced this Sunday (November 26th) in London.
