The city of Dublin has been shaped by the works of many architects. Probably the most famous is James Gandon, who built the landmark buildings of the Four Courts and the Custom House.

There is also William Robinson who designed the Royal Hospital Kilmainham and Marsh's Library and the partnership of Deane and Woodward who gave us the Kildare Street Club, now the Alliance Francaise, and the exquisite museum building in Trinity College.

But a name that is not so well known is that of a man who has probably designed and built more houses and flats, more homes, in which the people of Dublin live today, than perhaps any other person....
