There was a big surprise for Toy Show star Saoibh Lonergan when she returned to the Late Late studio on Friday night.

The Tramore youngster was joined by her parents Orla and Kenny as she reflected on her "crazy" week after stealing hearts on the Toy Show with her own song, Raining Rainbows.

The 10-year-old is recovering from surgery for a tumour on her spine.

The family paid tribute to the care Saoibh has received from the staff at Children's Health Ireland at Temple Street and the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire, explaining how important music therapy is for her recovery.

At the end of the interview, Ryan Tubridy had a treat up his sleeve.

"Everyone just wanted to talk about your song and how exciting it was, and everyone was very impressed by it all," he explained.

"We were particularly impressed by it all. In fact, so much so, so much so, I think it's fair to say... we think you should record the song as a single, and we're going to get you a recording studio!

"You're going to record your song, and maybe you can release it if you want. Would you like to do that?"

"Oh my God!" beamed Saoibh.

Saoibh's father Kenny said the family wants to release the single in aid of the Children's Health Foundation (CHF).

"That's what we want to do - put all the funds to it," he told the Late Late.

"You're saying thank you, that's fair," said the host.

"But from all the people I met this week, I'll say thank you as a family, you [Saoibh] as a beautiful human being, who is brimming with kindness and fun and warmth, and I would say magic, actually. You're really special. Thanks for being with us. Happy Christmas to you all."

Last week's Toy Show Appeal has raised almost €4 million for charities to help children around the country.
