Croke Park are yet to receive any communication from Matchroom Boxing in relation to the potential staging of the trilogy match between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron.
After the Bray fighter's famous win at the 3Arena on Saturday night she, along with promoter Eddie Hearn, quickly called for her next fight to be held at GAA headquarters after attempts to secure the venue for her homecoming earlier this year failed.
Taylor said that a trilogy match at the Jones' Road venue would be a fitting new landmark for women’s boxing while Hearn also called for a mega fight at the venue, either the decider with Cameron or a rematch with Amanda Serrano after her classic with Taylor at Madison Square Garden in New York in May 2022.
"If they did contact, Croke Park will deal with them professionally."
"Let’s go Eddie Hearn. You promised me Croke Park after our fight," Serrano said on social media after Taylor's win on Saturday.
However, more pressing issues remain in play with stadium director Peter McKenna saying the process of staging the fight at Croke Park had yet to begin, never mind picking the opponent.
"Katie Taylor is a fantastic boxer and has done Ireland proud," McKenna told RTÉ Sport.
"There is a long and wonderful tradition of boxing in north Dublin as exemplified by Kellie Harrington. Croke Park acknowledges these wonderful achievements.
"There has been no contact from Matchroom. If they did contact, Croke Park will deal with them professionally and as with all requests, we will sit down and discuss all the elements involved.
"Croke Park hosts hundred of events every year and like all such events, a process has to be followed. As it stands no contact had been made by Taylor’s representatives."
Hearn had originally explored the idea of a Serrano rematch at Croke Park last year before talks broke down due to disagreements over costs, with Taylor going on instead to fight Cameron at the 3Arena in May after Serrano was ruled out through injury.
The GAA highlighted security costs for the first major boxing show in Ireland in several years, something the Englishman thought was too expensive compared to UK stadiums.
"When you are going to negotiate with someone and the cost is three times more than Wembley Stadium… to be honest with you, I think it takes the absolute p***," Hearn had said ahead of the first Cameron fight.
