A 36-year-old man has been convicted of the murder of Robert 'Bobby' Messett at Bray Boxing Club in Co Wicklow more than five years ago.
Mr Messett, an early morning gym-goer, was shot in the head and died after the incident in the early hours of 5 June 2018.
Gerard Cervi, from East Wall in Dublin, will be sentenced for the murder on 1 December after he was convicted by a jury of six men and six women at the Central Criminal Court.
He was found not guilty of the attempted murder of well-known boxing coach Pete Taylor and not guilty of the attempted murder of another man, Ian Britton, who were injured when shots were fired into the club's crowded gym where an early morning exercise class was taking place.
Victim impact statements from Mr Messett's family, who cried as the verdict was read out, will be heard on 1 December.
Trial judge Ms Justice Karen O'Connor offered her condolences to the Messett family who she said had displayed enormous dignity throughout the trial, and through that dignity they had honoured Bobby Messett.
She said she could not imagine their grief and pain and that the victim would have been proud of all of them.
The jury, which took just under eight hours to reach its verdict, was thanked by the judge and excluded from jury service for ten years.
Senior Counsel Paul Murray, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, had argued during his closing speech that CCTV footage showed Cervi travelling from his home to Bray Boxing Club and back again on the morning of the shooting, which he said was sufficient evidence to convict him, when added to the presence of his DNA and fingerprints on white spirits bottles in a Volkswagon Caddy van that the prosecution said was used by the gunman.
