A man in his seventies has died after being hit by a lorry in Mountmellick, Co Laois.
The incident happened on Chapel Lane at around 4.55pm.
The man, who was on foot at the time, was fatally injured and his body remains at the scene.
The man that was driving the lorry did not require medical attention.
The road remains for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.
