The Irish Medical Association (IMA) is calling on the government to remove restrictions on the sale of contraception.
Members of the IMA have made a unanimous call for the government to remove restrictions on the sale of contraception. Dr Vincent Doyle, President-Elect of the IMA, says that there has been anxiety among doctors over the issue for several years.
A lot of women are looking for the pill and other means of contraception. Times have changed.
According to Dr Doyle, public opinion has changed on the subject of contraception and the public are way ahead of the government on the issue. Dr Doyle hopes that the government will take note of the IMA's resolution. Dr Doyle says that the time is ripe for change.
This is not a snap decision by the Irish Medical Association.
