An Irish missionary nun has backed the use of condoms to help slow down the spread of AIDS.

Sr. Maura O'Donohue says that AIDS cannot be controlled in the short term. She says that the use of condoms can reduce the spread of AIDS but cannot fully control it. 

Kieron Wood reports from a Conference on AIDS held at Carysfort College, Blackrock in Dublin. The conference was organised by the Irish Missionary Union. The three day conference aims to help missionaries confront the challenge of the disease. 

According to the report

The 150 delegates heard papers on the global reality of AIDS, its moral and ethical dimensions, and on holistic approaches to the problem.
